SUMMARY / The Dunkin’ Retail AR Kiosk is an Adobe Aero Augmented Reality (AR) experience that allows the user to view appetizing 3D illustrations of newly launched, seasonal or limited time Donuts along with their famous Coffee when ordering in-store or anywhere while the user is placing a pick up order via online or the Dunkin’ mobile app. The project is completed with a printed flyer including a QR code to enter the experience intended for placement as a fixture or a table tent on the ordering counter in Dunkin’ locations. Other possible access points are the Dunkin’ mobile app or the Dunkin’ website.

the experience

When peeking behind the augmented experience it all starts off with the 3D models animating in a smooth zero gravity fashion. The user interface includes clickable CTAs that takes the user to the ordering menu to finish out the experience when clicked via screen on the mobile device. The CTAs bounce every 5 seconds to remind the user they can order from the AR. Using an instrumental and VoiceOver to enhances the experience, the user will be instructed how to order accompanied by a welcome message.

Using a project from 2017 as a foundation, the goal was to create a futuristic ordering experience pairing animated 3D elements with an interactive user interface. The user would be able to walk in a Dunkin’ store, approach the counter, read a printed counter card promoting featured donuts and coffee to scan or access via link from the Dunkin' app or site; Ideally the menu would be updated on a monthly basis. The initial chosen products were inspired by the most common flavors: Strawberry, chocolate, vanilla and of course the famous coffee!
